HL Deb 04 April 1963 vol 248 c794WA
LORD STONHAM

asked Her Majesty's Government:

To state the number of petitions addressed by prisoners to the Home Secretary during the latest twelve month period for which figures are available, and, out of that total, how many petitions were successful.

THE MINISTER OF STATE, HOME OFFICE (EARL JELLICOE)

I regret that this information is not available. My right honourable friend is advised that simple statistics alone would be insufficient to give useful information about prisoners' petitions. The possibility of introducing a periodical statistical analysis is being explored.

House adjourned at eleven minutes before eleven o'clock.
