HL Deb 12 June 1961 vol 232 c88WA
LORD INMAN

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How many countries to-day have coloured television and when it can be expected in this country.

LORD ST. OSWALD

Three: the U.S.A., the U.S.S.R., and Japan. A decision to introduce colour television in the United Kingdom must follow a decision on the line standards to be used in future: the Committee on Broadcasting is at present considering these and cognate matters.

House adjourned at four minutes past seven o'clock.
