Mr. Bevanasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what further action has been taken, or is being contemplated, by Her Majesty's Government to ensure the free passage of shipping to and from Israeli ports through the Suez Canal, in view of renewed instances of interference with such free passage.
§ Mr. ProfumoNone, at present. Her Majesty's Government's view on freedom of passage through the Suez Canal was repeated by my right hon. and learned Friend in reply to the right hon. and learned Member for Rowley Regis and Tipton on 8th April. But I understand that the matter is being discussed through United Nations channels and I do not think it would be helpful to intervene.
