HC Deb 27 March 1957 vol 567 c116W
81. Mr. Benn

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies when it is intended to lift the ban on meetings to be addressed by Mr. Julius Nyerere, President of the Tanganyika African National Union, in view of his responsibility to report on the results of his missions to the United Nations.

Mr. Profumo

Such responsibility as Mr. Nyerere may have to report on his visit to the United Nations can only be to members of the Tanganyika African National Union and there is no restriction on his addressing members of that organisation in places not open to the general public.
