§ Mr. F. Noel-Bakerasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he will ask the Governor of Cyprus to hold an immediate and full inquiry into the ill-treatment during detention suffered by Charalambos Christodoulides which was revealed during his recent trial; and 177W whether, pending the result of that inquiry, he will suspend from duty the officials responsible for the care and interrogation of this detainee.
§ Mr. ProfumoThe Governor has already held a full inquiry into these allegations and is satisfied that no ill-treatment of this person occurred. The second part of the Question does not, therefore, arise.
