HC Deb 20 February 1957 vol 565 c71W
Mr. J. Johnson

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what are the total funds of the African Agricultural Improvement Fund of Northern Rhodesia; how many European agricultural officers and African agricultural assistants are employed by his organisation; and what subsidies are given to African peasant farmers.

Mr. Profumo

The total assets at 31st December, 1956, were £468,250. The fund has no employees; agricultural experts are provided by the territory's Department of Agriculture. Subsidies totalling £72,400 were given to African peasant farmers in 1955–56.
