Mr. Sorensen

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies the terms of the Agreement between the authorities of Fernando Po and the Federal and Regional Nigerian Governments in respect of wages and conditions of employment for Nigerian workers in that area.

Mr. Profumo,

pursuant to his reply [OFFICIAL REPORT, 16th July, 1957; Vol. 573, c. 97–8], supplied the following additional information:

I can confirm that the terms of the revised Fernando Po Labour Agreement which was drawn up in July 1956 are still under negotiation between the Governor-General of Nigeria and the Governor-General of the Spanish territories in the Gulf of Guinea. I am not, therefore, in a position at the moment to give details of the terms which may be finally agreed.
