§ Mr. Lennox-BoydThe number of vacancies on the books of the Colonial Office was 1,486 on 31st May, 1956. 245 of these were in the Administrative Branch. The total figure includes contract posts for the filling of which I am responsible but which are not strictly speaking appointments in Her Majesty's Oversea Civil Service.
