HC Deb 19 March 1951 vol 485 c233W
106. Captain Duncan

asked the Minister of Food why he has reduced the cheese ration from three ounces to two ounces at a time when meat is so short.

Mr. F. Willey

The cheese ration was increased temporarily from 2 oz. to 3 oz. a week on 28th January only because we had been able to purchase additional supplies from the United States of America. These additional supplies are now practically exhausted and it has been necessary to revert to the former ration level of 2 oz.
