108. Captain Duncan

asked the Minister of Food what kinds and quantities of foodstuffs he has arranged to import from the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics in tins as a result of his agreeing to the export of 1,800 tons of tinplate to the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.

Mr. Webb

About 3,200 tons of salmon, and about 800 tons of crabmeat.

109. Mr. Hopkinson

asked the Minister of Food how much tinplate has been supplied to the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics for the canning of crabmeat.

About 400 tons; the balance of the allocation was used to pack canned salmon.

Mr. S. Marshall

asked the Minister of Food what quantities of food packed in tins is expected to be imported from the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and of what description during the first quarter of the current year; and what quantities are expected during the second quarter similarly.

About 2,100 tons of salmon and about 800 tons of crab in the first quarter, and about 1,100 tons of salmon in the second quarter.
