§ Mr. Profumoasked the Minister of Fuel and Power whether, in view of the estimated increase in the supplies of coal available for household use in the present year, he will now consider increasing the maximum quantity permissible for delivery during the summer months to a uniform rate of 24 hundredweight all over the country.
§ Mr. P. Noel-BakerAs I said last week I hope that the increase in the supply of coal to domestic users may permit larger deliveries this year than were made last 61W year. I decided, however, after consultation with the Coal Merchants' Consultative Committee, and with the agreement of their members who represent the Cooperative Movement, that it would be unwise to increase the maximum amount which may be delivered in the northern areas during the summer months.
