HC Deb 19 November 1947 vol 444 c196W
Mr. Stokes

asked the Minister of Works to whom persons desiring to acquire secondhand Army huts for the purpose of providing Youth Centres and other social works, should apply; and whether he is aware that repeated applications have been made for the use of such a hut in the borough of Ipswich.

Mr. Key

Application may be made to the Regional Disposals Officer of the Ministry of Works, but if priority is sought the application should be endorsed by the Department concerned with the social work. The demand for surplus hutting so much exceeds the available supplies that it may be some time before even a sponsored application can be met. I cannot trace the Ipswich case to which my hon. Friend refers, but if he will let me have details I will look into it.
