HC Deb 21 April 1947 vol 436 c74W
Mr. Sharp

asked the Secretary of State for War when Mrs. Edith Gill, 74 Labley Street, Heckmondwike, the widow of 7406560 Pte. N. Gill, R.A.M.C., who died whilst serving overseas in December, 1945, will receive the 35 days' overseas service gratuity to which she is entitled; and why there has been so much delay in making this payment.

Mr. Bellenger

Overseas service grant is not payable when, as in this case, death occurred during service. Mrs. Gill has, therefore, received the total sum due to her from Army funds in respect of her late husband.
