HC Deb 31 October 1946 vol 428 c149W
Sir W. Smithers

asked the Secretary of State for War if, when he receives the report called for concerning foodstuffs and soap destroyed at Singapore, he will publish it in the OFFICIAL REPORT.

Mr. Bellenger

I have now received the report. The only foodstuffs written off were some biscuits which deteriorate quickly in the humid atmosphere. Some soap powder also deteriorated but was used in the N.A.A.F.I. laundry. In neither case was poor storage the cause, although there is a serious lack of covered storage in Singapore.
