HC Deb 15 May 1946 vol 422 cc258-9W
Colonel Stoddart-Scott

asked the Secretary of State for War if he is aware that 14624054 Private E. Holmes, 2nd Battalion Green Howards, India Command, is a farm worker and has served three years in the Army; that the Director of Recruiting and Demobilisation, in a letter dated 26th March, stated that his release under Class B had been authorised on 26th February, 1946; when will Private Holmes be offered Class B demobilisation; and when is he likely to be back in agriculture.

Mr. Bellenger:

I am awaiting a report from India on this case and as soon as it is received I will write to the hon. and gallant Member.

Lieutenant William Griffiths

Mr. Bellenger:

Yes, Sir. This case was reviewed on 8th May, and it was decided to suspend the soldier's sentence. The necessary instructions are about to be issued.
