HC Deb 14 May 1946 vol 422 cc169-70W
80. Mr. Medland

asked the Secretary of State for War if he will order the removal of the wire fencing recently erected on Staddon Heights overlooking Plymouth Hoe and thus restore to the general public a right they have enjoyed for 50 years of walking over the heights and particularly over the golf course to the wall, in view of the fact that this land is one of the finest beauty spots in the country.

Mr. Bellenger:

Although the land in question is War Department property, it is leased to a golf club. I understand that the fence to which my hon. Friend is presumably referring was put up by the golf club, with whom I suggest he should take the matter up.
