HC Deb 14 May 1946 vol 422 c168W
75. Mr. Osborne

asked the Secretary of State for War if he is aware that letters addressed to British soldiers in Japan are held up in Australia; and what steps he proposes to take to ensure a quicker and more reliable delivery.

Mr. Bellenger:

Mail for British troops in Japan is now being sent via India and Singapore. Although in the early stages of the occupation some mail may have gone via Australia there should have been no delay there. I am taking steps to ensure that if any mail is now in Australia it is forwarded immediately.
