HC Deb 07 May 1946 vol 422 cc74-5W
89. Mr. McAllister

asked the Minister of Town and Country Planning if he has any statement to make regarding the plan for the city of Bath; and when this plan is to be made available to the public.

Mr. Silkin:

A plan for Bath has been prepared by Sir Patrick Abercrombie and officials of the city council and the Bath and District Joint Planning Committee. An exhibition based on the plan was opened by my predecessor in February, 1945; and in that sense the plan was then made public. In March of this year, I had the opportunity of discussing certain aspects of the proposals with members of the city's Planning and Reconstruction Committee, and following this, the council is, I understand, being recommended by its Surveying Committee to make application to me for three declaratory orders under Section 1 of the 1944 Act. The question as to the publication of the plan in book form is one for the city council itself.
