HC Deb 22 September 1943 vol 392 cc231-2W
Mr. Hogg

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food whether he has investigated the complaints of rudeness and inattention made by a pregnant woman who was made to wait in the medical queue by the officials at the Oxford food office on 4th August from 1.45 p.m. to 3.15 p.m.; and with what result?

Mr. Mabane

A full investigation has been made into the allegations of rudeness and inattention at the Oxford food office and a letter of explanation has already been sent to my hon. Friend and to the lady concerned. The prolonged period during which the complainant had to wait is very much regretted. So far as can at present be discovered, it was due to the lack of experienced staff in the food office. The investigation showed, however, that the organisation of the Oxford food office is below standard. A further review is to be carried out in the near future. Meanwhile action is being taken to secure a service to the public both courteous and efficient.
