HC Deb 22 September 1943 vol 392 c220W
Major Procter

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware that existing clothing restrictions affect small bespoke tailoring craftsmen and firms more seriously than the large clothing wholesalers; and, since the former lose, approximately, three coupons on each man's suit they make, whilst the latter make, approximately, two coupons per suit, what steps he proposes to take to provide greater equality and to prevent the forcing out of business of individual craftsmen and firms, the quality of whose work is a trade asset to this country?

Captain Waterhouse

I would refer my hon. and gallant Friend to the reply which was given to my hon. Friend the Member for the Abbey Division (Sir H. Webbe) on 4th May. No evidence has since been produced which would support the suggestion in my hon. and gallant Friend's Question.
