HC Deb 03 February 1943 vol 386 cc910-1W
Dr. Little

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food whether in order to make the war effort more efficient and provide additional cereals for cattle and fowl feeding, he will, as the Canadian Government have done, reduce the amount of beer for sale by 20 per cent. and the amount of spirits which must be 30 per cent. under proof, by 30 per cent.; and whether he will forbid all advertising of liquor for the duration of the war?

Mr. Mabane

In regard to the first part of the Question I would refer my hon. Friend to the answer I gave to his Question of 19th November, 1942, to which I have nothing to add. My Noble Friend sees no reason to suppose that the suggestion made in the second part of my hon. Friend's Question would, if adopted, assist in the conservation of food supplies.
