HC Deb 15 April 1943 vol 388 c1411W
Mr. J. Beattie

asked the Prime Minister whether the area of Northern Ireland, consisting of six counties of the Province of Ulster, is a belligerent or non-belligerent state; and, if belligerent, when war was declared on behalf of this area and by what Government this declaration was made?

The Prime Minister

Northern Ireland is not a separate State but an integral part of the United Kingdom, and no separate declaration of war in respect of Northern Ireland was necessary. War with Germany was declared on 3rd September, 1939.
