HC Deb 22 October 1942 vol 383 c2147W
Mr. Hutchinson

asked the Secretary of State for Air whether he can make any statement regarding the incidents which took place on nth October and 16th October, when petrol tanks were allowed to fall from aircraft flying over Ilford?

Sir A. Sinclair

I would refer my hon. and learned Friend to the reply given yesterday to the hon. Member for Plaistow (Mr. Thorne).

Mr. Thorne

asked the Secretary of State for Air how many people were killed and injured by an aeroplane which crashed on a piece of waste ground in the Home Counties on Sunday afternoon, 18th October; and whether any property was damaged?

Sir A. Sinclair

I regret to say that 21 people, including the personnel in the aircraft, lost their lives in this tragic accident. There were no non-fatal injuries and there was no damage to property. I am sure the House would wish me to record sympathy with the relatives of those who have lost their lives in this regrettable accident.
