HC Deb 28 July 1942 vol 382 c344W
Sir H. Morris-Jones

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he will make an appeal to the British public on the lines of that made recently for Russia by the British Red Cross and St. John organisation for funds to help British and Dominion prisoners of war from Hong Kong, Singapore and Burma?

Sir J. Grigg

Prisoners in the Far East cannot be helped effectively until the Japanese Government agrees to the setting up of the necessary machinery. I have no reason to think that any help which can be given will lack the necessary financial support.
