HC Deb 29 May 1941 vol 371 c2023W
Sir G. Jeffreys

asked the Secretary of State for War whether the representative on the War Office Committee for drawing up rules of discipline for the Auxiliary Territorial Service was recommended by the assistant director, Auxiliary Territorial Service of the command in which she is serving; and why this lady was appointed to this committee?

Captain Margesson

The Committee referred to by my hon. and gallant Friend was not formed to draw up rules of discipline but to prepare regulations for the Auxiliary Territorial Service in accordance with instructions from the appropriate authorities. The officer in question was selected by the War Office in view of her experience and special qualifications for the work, and no recommendations were called for from commands.
