HC Deb 09 December 1941 vol 376 cc1401-2W
Flight-Lieutenant Etherton

asked the Secretary of State for Air what is the percentage of officers, other than in the general duties branch, whose rank was, war substantive, temporary, and acting, respectively, in the appointments which they were filling at the last convenient date in the war establishment for flying officers, flight-lieutenants and squadron-leaders?

Sir A. Sinclair

The production of figures in the complete detail asked for by my hon. and gallant Friend would involve unproductive effort which could hardly be justified at the present time. The broad fact that the promotion of non-flying personnel has been more rapid than that of flying personnel is, however, well known throughout the Service.
