Brigadier-General Clifton Brown

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether he is aware that many sales of timber increasingly needed for war effort are being held up owing to the uncertainty of the incidence of Excess Profits Tax on growing trees which already pay Estate Duty on their capital value and are assessed annually under Schedule B for Income Tax purposes; and whether he will make an early statement to clear up the situation.
