§ Mr. ElliotOne hundred and seventy-six welfare authorities in England and Wales have submitted proposals, of which 25 have been approved. According to the latest information in my possession, schemes are in operation in seven areas.

Williamsasked the Minister of Health whether he is aware that the Doncaster County Borough have adopted a cheap milk scheme for expectant and nursing mothers and children under school age; that milk vendors have refused to participate and the scheme is held up; and whether the local authority are authorised by him to purchase wholesale from the Milk Marketing Board and provide their own distribution scheme?
§ Mr. ElliotI am aware of the county borough council's proposals, and of the difficulties which have arisen. The general question is receiving active consideration at the present time.
