asked His Majesty's Government whether it is proposed to introduce legislation at an early date to deal with local elections for the current and coming year.

THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION (EARL DE LA WARR)

His Majesty's Government consider that local government elections should be suspended until hostilities are over and an early opportunity will be taken of submitting the necessary legislation to Parliament.
