HC Deb 20 September 1939 vol 351 c963W
Sir A. Wilson

asked the Minister of Transport whether he will consider the advisability of reminding the public by broadcasting and through individual members of the police force that, in the interests of safety, they should walk on the right-hand side of the road facing the oncoming traffic when there is no foot-path, and on the left-hand side of the footpath when there is one?

Captain Wallace

I have already broadcast advice to this effect, and I hope that the public will realise the great importance of observing these rules, in the interests of their own safety.
