HC Deb 04 October 1939 vol 351 cc1974-5W
Mr. Bartlett

asked the Secretary of State for War whether all British newspapers posted to foreign countries are held up by censor; and will he take all possible steps to expedite their despatch in order to counteract the influence of German propaganda?

Sir V. Warrender:

Permits have been granted to all the chief newspaper exporters. A special branch of the Postal Censorship has been constituted at the General Post Office with the task of ensuring that there is no delay in the despatch of such papers to places abroad.
