HC Deb 02 November 1939 vol 352 c2116W
Mr. Lee

asked the Home Secretary whether he has further considered the appeal made to him by petition and correspondence, by and on behalf of the residents of Frecheville, Gleadless and Beighton, for further air-raid equipment, first-aid posts and air-raid shelters, on the ground that their close proximity to Sheffield makes it a very vulnerable area, and with what result?

Sir J. Anderson

Representations made to me on behalf of these areas have been confined to requests for early issue of standard steel shelters; and, as the hon. Member is aware, I have not felt able to make any promise in that respect for the reasons I gave him.
