HC Deb 11 May 1939 vol 347 cc709-10W
Sir A. Wilson

asked the Minister of Health whether he is aware that local government employés in the Territorial Army no longer enjoy the protection of Section 3 of the Local Government (Emergency Powers) Act, 1916, with the result that periods of duty with the Territorial Army whilst embodied do not count for pension; and what steps it is proposed to take to remedy this handicap?

Mr. Elliot

I have already addressed a circular to local authorities regarding the pay and superannuation position of their employés who are called up for service in the event of an emergency, and I am sending my hon. and gallant Friend a copy. The position of employés who may be called out in peace-time under the provisions of the Kills at present before Parliament is receiving my careful consideration.
