Mr. Jenkinsasked the Minister of Health whether he has considered the expressed desire of a large number of ratepayers of Abergavenny for a public inquiry into the proposed expenditure of £20,000 for the improvement of the market of that town; and what steps does he propose to take in regard thereto?
§ Mr. ElliotNo such desire was conveyed to me when I was considering the application, and before I issued my sanction to the borrowing of the necessary loans in April last I satisfied myself that there had been no criticism of the scheme of a character requiring local investigation by public inquiry. In the circumstances I do not propose to take any further action.
