§ Mr. ElliotI have been asked to reply. The powers contained in the Food and Drugs Act, 1938, which comes into operation on the 1st October next, will be wide enough to enable me to require date marking on wrappers and containers. But, as at present advised, I am not satisfied that the advantages which might result from such a requirement would outweigh the administrative and technical difficulties involved.
