HC Deb 24 April 1939 vol 346 cc800-1W
Sir A. Wilson

asked the Minister of Health whether the Local Government Law Consolidation Committee is still sitting; of so, upon what branch of local government law it is at present engaged; and when a third interim report may be expected?

Mr. Elliot

The Local Government and Public Health Consolidation Committee published in December, 1937, their third interim report, which deals with the law relating to food and drugs. The committee had intended to deal next with the law relating to streets, but this work has now been merged with the consideration of the law relating to roads and highways generally, and a committee has been appointed jointly by my right hon. Friend the Minister of Transport and my predecessor for this purpose. In the meantime the work of the Local Government and Public Health Consolidation Committee is in abeyance.
