HC Deb 14 February 1938 vol 331 cc1551-2W
Colonel Wedgwood

asked the Secretary for the Colonies whether Altman, sentenced to death in Palestine, will be reprieved, in view of the provocation of the Jews by the large number of unpunished murders of Jews by Arabs?

Mr. Ormsby-Gore

The General Officer Commanding has commuted the sentence in this case to one of imprisonment for life. I do not accept the suggestion conveyed in the question that there should be discrimination on racial grounds in the application of measures adopted for the punishment of acts of terrorism.
