HC Deb 26 April 1938 vol 335 c36W
Mr. Watson

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether any progress has been made by the Scottish National Housing Company and the Dunfermline Town Council to re-house the tenants who will be displaced due to Admiralty requirements at Rosyth?

Mr. Elliot:

I am informed that of the 12 tenants referred to six have obtained alternative accommodation by their own efforts. Although Dunfermline Town Council are very doubtful whether it will be possible to make accommodation available in council houses, they have indicated that they are prepared to consider applications from the remaining tenants. As I informed the hon. Member on 8th March, no obligation rests on the company to provide other accommodation. The company are, however, prepared to consider any cases of serious and exceptional hardship and have agreed to allow one of the tenants, for health reasons, to continue in occupation of his house at Rosyth for a temporary period after the 28th May.
