§ Mr. ElliotThe Department of Health obtain from the National Trust and bring to the attention of local authorities particulars of dwelling-houses which the Trust consider to be worthy of preservation. The Department have power to give local authorities directions regarding the preservation of buildings of architectural, historic, or artistic interest which are affected by the Housing Acts, and I am prepared to use this power wherever the circumstances would justify me in doing so.
