HC Deb 23 December 1937 vol 330 c2193W
Mr. R. Gibson

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many milk-producing herds of cows are within the purview of the Milk Marketing Board in each of the counties of Renfrew, Ayr, and Midlothian; and of these herds how many, respectively, are certified as being free from tubercle?

Mr. Elliot

The number of herds owned by producers registered under the Scottish Milk Marketing Scheme in each of the counties of Renfrew, Ayr, and Midlothian is respectively, 444, 1,618 and 271. The number of attested tubercle-free herds in these counties is, Renfrew 30, Ayr 338 and Midlothian 10. I may explain that certificates of attestation are granted in terms of the Tuberculosis (Attested Herds) Scheme which was made under and in terms of Section 9 of the Milk Act, 1934.
