HC Deb 22 April 1937 vol 322 c1932W
Mr. Cassells

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he is aware that in the Dunbartonshire Education Trust Scheme the county is referred to as Dumbartonshire whereas it should be Dunbartonshire; and, if so, is he prepared to have the matter rectified?

Mr. Elliot

I am aware that the county is so referred to in the Scheme framed by the Endowments Commissioners and that different views are held as to the correct spelling of the county name. Alteration of the spelling would involve an amending Scheme and I do not think that such a Scheme would be justified for this purpose alone.
