§ Sir D. THOMSONasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what steps he proposes to take to see that the legal officials in Scotland, and particularly the sheriffs-substitute, receive a proportionate rise in salary to the County Court Judges and other magistrates in England?
§ Mr. ELLIOTI propose forthwith to review the salaries of sheriffs and sheriffs-substitute in consultation with the Treasury. I may add that legislation is not required for this purpose, as the salaries in question are not fixed by Statute.
