HC Deb 21 April 1936 vol 311 c36W
Mr. RHYS DAVIES

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he has any statement to make with reference to the situation in Egypt?

Mr. EDEN

The conversations referred to in the reply which I. gave to the hon. Member for Central Southwark (Mr. Day) on 9th April were resumed on 16th April. As stated in a joint communiqué which appears in to-day's Press, they have now been adjourned until 5th May in order to enable members of the Egyptian delegation to take part in the electoral campaign. The hon. Member will observe from the communiqué that the same attitude of cordiality and understanding has been maintained and that considerable ground has been covered and satisfactory progress made in certain directions.
