HC Deb 08 May 1934 vol 289 cc932-3W
Major OWEN

asked the Minister of Agriculture (1) what was the amount of wheat produced in the county of Carnarvon during the current cereal year; and whether this amount was in excess of the amount accepted for quota payments;

(2) what sums have been received during the current cereal year by the farmers of Carnarvonshire in respect of interim payments under the wheat quota scheme?

Mr. ELLIOT

The total production of wheat of the 1933 harvest in the county of Carnarvon is estimated by the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries at 1,560 cwt. I am informed by the Wheat Commission that the amount of millable wheat in respect of the sale of which wheat certificates constituting claims for deficiency payments under the Wheat Act have been lodged with the commission during the current cereal year by registered growers in the county is 323 cwt. The total payments made in advance in respect of such certificates amount to £48 9s.
