HC Deb 24 November 1931 vol 260 c232W
Mr. RHYS DAVIES

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he will, before disposing of any complaints from British trawlermen fishing off Iceland, consult the British Consul in Iceland as to the means sometimes employed to evade the legal restrictions respecting the three-mile limit in operation in Icelandic waters?

Mr. EDEN

My right hon. Friend proposes to maintain the practice followed by his predecessors, and to avail himself, when necessary, of the assistance of His Majesty's Consul-General at Reykjavik in determining whether any complaint by a British trawler engaged in the Icelandic fisheries is justified, before causing representations on the subject to be made to the Icelandic Government.
