HC Deb 04 March 1931 vol 249 c410W
Dr. PHILLIPS

asked the Minister of Health whether the Sunderland Borough Council has yet submitted any clearance and rehousing schemes under the Housing (No. 2) Act, 1930; and, if so, how many houses is it proposed to demolish and how many people are to be rehoused?

Mr. GREENWOOD

The council are about to erect 212 houses, 60 of which are to be used for re-housing purposes under the Act of 1930. No actual declaration of a clearance area has as yet been made by the council, but they contemplate in the coming five years the demolition of 700 houses and the provision in all of 1,000 houses for the purposes of the Act of 1930.
