HL Deb 29 July 1931 vol 81 c1304WA
VISCOUNT ELIBANK

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he has yet consulted the Chancellor of the Exchequer regarding certain points raised in the debate of the 11th June, 1931, in connection with the payment of Income Tax in this country by British Colonial officials and foreign visitors, and whether he will state the result of such consultation?

THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE COLONIES (LORD PASSFIELD)

I have communicated with the Chancellor of the Exchequer on various points raised by the noble Lord in the debate of 11th June, and they are receiving his consideration. The Chancellor informs me that he is not prepared to appoint a special committee to examine the working of the Income Tax law in regard to residence.

House adjourned at three minutes before five o'clock.
