§ Mr. GREENWOODI understand that the serum to which the hon. Member presumably refers has been and is being used for the treatment of patients in this country, but it is not yet possible to arrive at any definite conclusions as to its value. A considerable amount of re- 787W search into the causes and treatment of puerperal fever is being undertaken, and is being carefully watched and assisted by the Medical Research Council and by my Department. I do not consider, therefore, that there is any necessity for the appointment of a special commission of inquiry into this subject.
