asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many unsatisfied applications for smallholdings and enlargements are still before the Department of Agriculture for Scotland; how many of these were made before the year 1922; and if it is still the policy of the Department of Agriculture to give preference to applications from ex-Service men and to others made before, during, or immediately after the War?

ever, been made for the landing of a cargo of cattle from that Colony which had already been shipped from Cape Town before the outbreak was reported, subject however, to the animals, on veterinary examination before landing, being found free from disease. Further, I have considered it expedient to prohibit the importation of animals from any part of the Union of South Africa for the time being, until fuller information is available as to the extent of the outbreak, and as to any consequential developments in South Africa.
