asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what was the net capital expenditure on schemes of land settlement in Scotland for the years 1928–29 and 1929–30; and what amount of expenditure is estimated for this purpose during the year 1930–31?

The net capital expenditure on schemes of land settlement in Scotland in the year 1928–29 was £107,901 and in 1929–30 £138,436. Similar expenditure during the year 1930–31 may be from £230,000 to £250,000, depending upon the rate at which present and future commitments may mature.
